HIFO's history teacher seminar 2016 - My family in history
On 14 – 15 October 2016, HIFO will organise a seminar for history teachers who want to use the History Competition “My family in history” in their teaching. The seminar will take place at the Fritt Ord Foundation’s premises in Oslo.
The seminar will include discussions of how we can work with the competition in our classes. How can we supervise and assess pupils’ entries so that pupils can use as much of their potential as possible? What topics and approaches will be fruitful and interesting for the pupils? How we can inspire pupils who do not think they have anything of interest to examine, to nonetheless realise that there are fruitful approaches?
Through papers and discussions, we hope that the seminar will contribute to the work with the history competition and give you inspiration for new approaches and methods.
There will also be lectures on relevant topics of historic interest. History professor Hilde Henriksen Waage will talk about why things unfolded as they did in Syria. Historian Hallvard Notaker will talk about the US presidential election. Ivo de Figueiredo will talk about his new book “A stranger at my table. A tale of family”.
Please note: the event is for teachers only and the number of participants is limited to 50. Binding registration by contacting karsten.korbol(a)frittord.no, by 15 September 2016. The seminar is free of charge.
