Islam in Norway - Young voices
Fritt Ord invites the public to attend the event entitled “”http://www.facebook.com/events/1789557768026875/“>Islam in Norway – Young voices on freedom of expression, identity, equality and acceptance of faith”, Monday, 29 May, 7.00 p.m.-9 p.m. at the House of Literature.
A panel of young people from multi-cultural backgrounds will be discussing Islam in today’s Norway. How is Islam covered in the media? What can be done to counter extreme social control? How much space should be devoted to religions in the public sphere?

Moderator Yama Wolasmal will introduce the panel:

- Mohamed Abdi, student and writer
- Mina Adampour, columnist in Aftenposten
- Syed Misam Hussain, student and a member of organisation Minareten
- Ayusha Awan, student and a member of ICC Youth
Introductions to the various topics by:
- Sofia Srour, law student, blogger and the winner of The Freedom of Expression Foundation Tribute, along with ‘the shameless girls’ Nancy Herz and Amina Bile.
- Mori Diakite, philosopher, converted muslim and chair of Norway’s National Association against Racism
- Sylo Taraku, adviser at the Agenda Think Tank and author of the book “Immigration Realism”
- Usman Rana, writer and author of the book “Norwegian Islam”
