A preview screening of the documentary film GRETA

November 5 2020 17:30–19:00 Klingenberg Cinema on Olav Vs gate 4 in Oslo

Fritt Ord, NF Kino, Youth Strike for Climate, YMCA/YWCA, Spire, Nature and Youth, Changemaker, Eco-Agents, Differ Media and Tour de Force invites the public to a preview screening of the documentary film on Greta Thunberg.

No one has had a greater impact on the international debate on climatic change and environmental policy in recent years than Greta Thunberg. In a remarkably short time, the teenage girl from Sweden became a leader of a global movement intent on promoting action rather than explanations. The group wants to hold politicians responsible for the world they are leaving behind for coming generations.

Greta Thunberg and Nature and Youth were awarded the Fritt Ord Prize in 2019 for their contributions to making the debate on the climate and the environmental debate action-oriented and mobilising.

Programme

Welcoming remarks by Knut Olav Åmås, Executive Director of the Fritt Ord Foundation.

There will be appeals from those who are striking in Norway and a musical interlude featuring the artist Marte Wulff. Following the film, there will be a “Hot Seat” session, with Åsmund Aukrust from the Labour Party and Ola Elvestuen from the Liberal Party, who will be taking questions from young climate strikers about how they, as politicians, intend to resolve the climate crisis.

Julie Rødje and Simon Balsnes from the young people’s organisations Spire and Nature and Youth will be the evening’s moderators.

About the film

This documentary follows Thunberg from her first school strike to meetings with world leaders. From awkward small talk with Emmanuel Macron and verbal tongue-lashings from Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro, to the infamous sailing across the Atlantic to participate in the UN summit meeting in New York, the film portrays Thunberg’s rather absurd everyday life from a backstage perspective. We also get a glimpse of how autism has made its mark on Thunberg’s childhood, and helped shape her world view. GRETA is an inspiring film about climate, democracy, being different and daring to take a stand when no one else does.

The film recently had its world première in Venice.
